Abstract: A method for producing alkylene glycols are disclosed. A feed stream comprising an alkylene oxide and water is flowed through to at least one inlet of a reaction unit thereby producing an first outlet stream comprising water, monoalkylene glycol, dialkylene glycol, trialkylene glycol or a combination thereof from the outlet of the reaction unit. The first outlet stream is passed through a first separation unit to produce a second outlet stream comprising water and a third outlet stream comprising monoalkylene glycol, dialkylene glycol, trialkylene glycol or a combination thereof. At least a portion of the third outlet stream is recycled to at least one inlet of the reaction unit.
