Abstract: A system (100) for collecting waste includes a housing (102) defining an enclosed space and a plurality of waste bins (104) removably disposed within the enclosed space. The waste bins (104) are respectively configured to receive different categories of waste for segregated collection thereof. A plurality of lids (106) are pivotally coupled to respective waste bins (104), where each lid (106) is movable between a closed position restricting access to a corresponding waste bin (104) and an open position permitting access to the corresponding waste bin (104). A plurality of foot-operated pedal mechanisms (200) are operatively coupled to the plurality of lids (106), where each foot-operated pedal mechanism (200), upon actuation, moves the corresponding lid (106) from the closed position towards the open position. Each waste bin (104) is independently accessible through the corresponding lid (106) by actuation of the respective foot-operated pedal mechanism (200), thereby enabling hands-free disposal.
