MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411104594 A) filed by Schneider Electric India Private Limited on December 30, 2024, for System For Proof Of Earth Interlock In Gas Insulated Switchgear.

Inventors include Chhabadiya, Pawan Kumar; and Rajhans, Rupesh Subhashrao.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved interlock system for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) designed to enhance operator safety during maintenance operations. The system ensures that the cable chamber door can only be opened when the Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) is in the closed condition and the Disconnector Switch (DS) is earthed. Key components include a DS mechanism with a slider and pin, a VCB mechanism with a bell crank and blocking rod, a Proof of Earth (POE) key mechanism, and a trip pushbutton blocking mechanism. The system is compatible with the ARF200 mechanism, minimizes relative movement and friction, and includes an electrical indication mechanism for real-time status feedback. The ergonomic and cost-effective design ensures reliable, smooth operation and ease of assembly, providing a comprehensive safety solution for GIS maintenance. This invention addresses the limitations of existing systems, offering significant improvements in safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
