Abstract: A system and method for trust-based security against the hostile behaviour of a Sybil attacker for routing security in a Flying Ad Hoc Network (FANET) are disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of unmanned aerial vehicles interconnected through wireless communication links, wherein each unmanned aerial vehicle incorporates a communication transceiver assembly, a neighbor observation module, a trust evaluation processor, a behavioral analytics module, an energy monitoring subsystem, a route scoring engine, an identity verification engine, and a malicious node isolation controller. The neighbor observation module records packet reception events, packet forwarding events, route participation records, acknowledgement records, and communication history associated with neighboring unmanned aerial vehicles. The trust evaluation processor generates direct trust values from forwarding behaviour and combines the direct trust values with indirect trust values generated by the behavioral analytics module to produce composite trust indices.
