Abstract: The present invention discloses a system for monitoring underwater acoustic communication by water channel measurement, comprising a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. The transmitter unit comprises a control unit interfaced to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for generating appropriate analog signals within the desired spectrum. The generated signal is amplified by a broadband power amplifier, matched to an underwater transducer through an impedance matching transformer, and transmitted into the water via an underwater cable. The receiver unit comprises a hydrophone with inbuilt preamplifier placed in the water and connected via an underwater cable to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which is interfaced to the control unit for processing. The system is capable of generating and transmitting various types of continuous wave signals, including single tones, sweeps, and stepped sweeps, within the frequency range of 5 kHz to 48 kHz.
