MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611117357 A) filed by Comviva Technologies Limited on September 30, 2026, for Systems And Methods For Metadata-Gated Pre-Evaluation Of Rules In A Rule Engine.

Inventors include Veerabhadrappa, Raghu Bavimane; Bhama, Daulat Singh; Tamilarasu, Gowthaman; Maas, Brian Johannes Pieter; and Deshbhandari, Soumya.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method (600) for evaluating rules in a rule engine. The method (600) includes receiving (602) an evaluation request with evaluation-context data (404) including an evaluation time and context parameters and retrieving (604) rule definitions (224), each including a compiled condition program (314), a compiled action program (316), and applicability metadata (302). Prior to invoking an expression virtual machine (228), applicability of each rule definition is determined (606) by sequentially comparing the applicability metadata with the evaluation-context data for applicability dimensions including a temporal dimension and one or more contextual dimensions. When a comparison is not satisfied, the determining is terminated (608) without comparing remaining dimensions, and the rule definition is excluded (610) prior to invoking the expression virtual machine. When the comparisons are satisfied, the expression virtual machine is invoked (612) based on the compiled condition program.
