Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method (1200) for secure transmission of critical or major lower layer control information or Media Access Control (MAC) Control Elements (CEs) in a wireless communication. The method (1200) includes receiving a configuration message from a radio resource control (RRC) layer. The configuration message includes a list of critical or major lower layer control information or MAC CEs to be protected. The method (1200) includes identifying at least one MAC CE from the list of MAC CEs based on at least one parameter associated with the at least one MAC CE, during a transmission of the configuration message to a receiver. The at least one parameter comprises a threat level associated with the MAC CE. The method (1200) includes protecting the identified at least one MAC CE to be transmitted to the receiver based on one or more of ciphering technique and an integrity protection technique. The method (1200) includes transmitting, to the receiver, the at least one protected MAC CE.
