MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411096011 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on December 05, 2024, for Therapeutic Method Using Syringic Acid For Pi3k/Akt Pathway Modulation In Pcos Treatment.
Inventors include Ayush Kumar; and Mandeep Kaur.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a therapeutic method utilizing syringic acid for modulating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This method involves administering an effective amount of syringic acid to subjects diagnosed with letrozole-induced PCOS, where the syringic acid activates phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and facilitates the production of phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate (PIP3), leading to the recruitment and activation of AKT at the cell membrane. The modulation of the PI3K/AKT pathway by syringic acid restores normal cellular signaling processes, addressing hormonal imbalances, ovarian dysfunction, and metabolic disturbances associated with PCOS. The invention includes syringic acid administration in effective formulations, use in mouse models for evaluation, and its potential to improve insulin sensitivity, promote follicular development, and reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. The method compares syringic acid's effectiveness with standard PCOS treatments, assessing reproductive hormones, ovarian morphology, and metabolic parameters.
