MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641080415 A) filed by Easwari Engineering College on June 30, 2026, for Thermally Conductive Phase-Change Composite For Passive Thermal Energy Storage.

Inventors include Dr. M. Divya Bharathi; Dr. P. Krishnan; Dr. Ro. Mu. Jauhar; and Dr. Paavai Era.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermally conductive phase-change composite material for passive thermal energy storage and a method for its preparation. The composite comprises a phase-change material, expanded graphite, hexagonal boron nitride, silica aerogel, and a polymer encapsulation layer. Expanded graphite_and boron nitride_enhance thermal conductivity, while silica_aerogel retains the-molten phase- change material and minimizes leakage. The encapsulation layer improves structural stability and durability during repeated thermal cycles. The preparation method includes mixing the conductive fillers, vacuum impregnation of the phase- change material into the porous support, encapsulation, and curing. The composite provides efficient thermal energy storage, rapid charging and discharging, leakage resistance, and long service life. The invention is applicable to buildings, battery thermal management, solar thermal systems, electronic cooling, refrigeration, and industrial thermal regulation.
