MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125179 A) filed by Advik Gujrati; and Greenerth Climatech And Impact Solutions Private Limited on October 21, 2026, for Thermoharvest: Thermocouple-Based Biomass Layer-Addition Timing Assistance System For Flame-Curtain Biochar Kilns.
Inventor includes Advik Gujrati.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermocouple-based system and method for monitoring temperature variations in flame-curtain biochar kilns and providing guidance regarding biomass layer-addition timing. The system comprises a plurality of thermocouples configured to measure temperatures within the kiln, an ESP32 microcontroller operatively connected to the thermocouples, and a temperature-processing algorithm executable by the microcontroller. The thermocouples continuously acquire temperature measurements during kiln operation, and the microcontroller processes the measurements to identify relative thermal declines associated with biomass additions. The processed temperature information is used to generate guidance indicating when an operator should consider introducing a subsequent biomass layer. Further, the system further comprises a locally hosted web dashboard accessible through a wireless device connected to a Wi-Fi access point established by the ESP32 microcontroller. The dashboard presents kiln temperature information and layer-addition alerts, enabling the operator to observe thermal variations and make temperature-informed feeding decisions. Local access to the dashboard permits monitoring and alert delivery without requiring an external internet connection. Furthe, the corresponding method comprises acquiring temperature measurements from the plurality of thermocouples, processing the measurements to detect relative thermal changes associated with biomass addition, generating layer-addition guidance based on the detected changes, and communicating the guidance through the dashboard. Operator control over biomass addition is retained, with the system functioning as a decision-support arrangement during kiln operation.
