Abstract: A sealing system is for sealing a battery. The sealing system comprises a slotted lid, and a thermoplastic sealing material. The slotted lid comprises a polymeric sheet comprising a plurality of slots. The thermoplastic sealing material comprises a first thermoplastic layer and the second thermoplastic layer. A method comprising the steps of providing a battery; providing a slotted lid; positioning the slotted lid over the battery; applying a first hot-melt thermoplastic material; and applying a second hot-melt thermoplastic material.
