Abstract: The current invention relates to an automatic medication dispensing and patient response monitoring system that is based on the Internet of Things concept. It includes an alert unit, a web-based scheduling interface, a wireless time synchronization unit, and a rotating tray with a servo motor and a microcontroller. It can automatically dispense medication at a predetermined time and send alerts to patients using visual and audio cues. Once the medication is taken out of the tray, a sensor placed at the point of dispensing will detect the medication and determine whether the medication has been taken by the patient. It will record a missed dose if the medication is not taken out within a predetermined time period. The non-volatile memory stores the schedule and compliance data, and after the schedule data is inputted into the system, it can function independently.
