Abstract: The present invention relates to a Topological Attack-Path Prediction and Self-Reconfiguring Internet of Things (IoT) Security Gateway designed to identify potential cyberattack routes and dynamically modify network security configurations to protect interconnected IoT devices. The invention comprises a topology discovery module, a graph-based network representation module, an attack-path prediction engine, a risk assessment module, a security policy decision engine, and a self- reconfiguration controller. The topology discovery module collects information regarding connected devices, communication links, network services, access permissions, trust relationships, and gateway configurations to construct and continuously update a directed or weighted graph representing the IoT network. The attack-path prediction engine evaluates the graph using device vulnerabilities, communication dependencies, privilege relationships, observed traffic characteristics, and historical security events to identify potential sequences of compromised nodes and unauthorized access routes. The risk assessment module assigns risk scores to predicted attack paths according to vulnerability severity, path length, connectivity, asset criticality, and estimated attack feasibility. Based on the assessed risk, the security policy decision engine determines appropriate mitigation actions, including access-control modification, traffic filtering, device isolation, route restriction, trust-level adjustment, and communication-session termination. The self-reconfiguration controller applies selected mitigation actions through programmable gateway interfaces while monitoring network availability and operational constraints. A feedback mechanism evaluates the effectiveness of implemented countermeasures and updates the topology model, risk estimates, and security policies in response to changing network conditions. The invention thereby enables proactive, topology-aware security management without relying exclusively on static firewall rules or reactive intrusion detection. The proposed gateway is applicable to industrial IoT networks, smart buildings, healthcare monitoring systems, connected transportation, smart grids, and other distributed IoT environments requiring adaptive cyberattack prevention, controlled network reconfiguration, and continuous security assessment.
