MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641118541 A) filed by Vishnu Institute Of Technology on October 04, 2026, for Transformer Ensemble Lung Disease Classification With Pre-Segmentation And Feature Optimization.
Inventors include Mr. D. Durga Prasad; Mr. A. K. Chaitanya Varma; Mr. A. Brahmeswar; Ms. D. Abhigna; Mr. G. Manikanta; and Mr. A. Naveen.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an artificial intelligence-based system and method for automated classification of lung diseases from chest X-ray images. The system performs image preprocessing, lung-region segmentation using binary thresholding, and image enhancement to reduce irrelevant background structures and improve relevant anatomical information. The enhanced segmented image is processed by a plurality of transformer-based learning models operating as an ensemble to extract high-level feature representations from image patches. The extracted features are combined and subjected to feature optimization for retaining informative and discriminative features while reducing redundant dimensions. The optimized features are supplied to a classification module for identifying normal or abnormal lung conditions.
