Abstract: A transformer-less multi-level inverter (108) includes a pair of input terminals (202) configured to receive a Direct Current (DC) voltage from a DC source (104) and a pair of output terminals (204) configured to supply an Alternating Current (AC) voltage to a grid (106). A negative input terminal and a first output terminal are connected in a common-ground configuration, eliminating ground leakage current. The inverter includes a network of switches, capacitors, and diodes (206) connected between the input and output terminals. The network comprises power switches, capacitors arranged to enable voltage boosting through series-parallel charging and discharging sequences, and at least one diode. A control unit (208) selectively controls the power switches to generate a multi-level AC output voltage. During generation, the capacitors are self-balanced through the charging and discharging sequences, eliminating the need for auxiliary balancing circuits. The topology achieves reduced component count, lower harmonic distortion, and improved efficiency.
