MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541041248 A) filed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development Lp on April 29, 2025, for Translating Multicast Trace Requests Between Multicast Group Addresses.
Inventors include Nandy, Tathagata; Radhakrishnabhat, Chethan Chavadibagilu; and Muthukumar, Subramanian.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT A network device may include circuitry that receives a multicast trace request associated with a first multicast group address and incorporates identifying information associated with the network device in the multicast trace request. The circuitry may also query one or more routing tables of the network device to determine a group translation between the first multicast group address and a second multicast group address as well as upstream neighbor data associated with an upstream neighbor device along a data path that includes multiple network devices between a data source and a data client. The upstream neighbor device may be associated with the second multicast group address. The circuitry may also incorporate translation information regarding the group translation between the first multicast group address and the second multicast group address in the multicast trace request and send the multicast trace request to the upstream neighbor device.
