Abstract: The proposed model presents an innovative approach for examining, assessing, and estimating the efficacy of water-based modes of transportation. It becomes pertinent in the context of these 25-Jun-2026/94789/202641078469/Form 2(Title Page) modes operating and navigating through urban spaces, impacting the economy, environment, and other public systems, while conjoining daily transport and tourism. The Kochi Water Metro, India’s premier metro system, has brought about significant geopolitical, ecornal,om ic, cultu and spatial changes, altering our understanding of urban mobilities. Employing this as the case in point offered the perfect space to conduct an exploratory study utilising qualitative data as the primary source and quantitative data as the secondary source. Qualitative data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with administrative members and staff of the Metro, as well as daily commuters, tourists, local residents, vendors, and auto drivers, to ensure that the data encompassed different segments of society. The data were helpful in gathering a cumulative understanding of the economic gradients, their impact on the environment, mapping urban spaces, utilising water as an energy source, and exploring the interconnection between transport and tourism. Using a mixed approach, the study by integrating these diverse data establishes the need for an interdisciplinary approach to comprehend and conceptualise urban mobility systems. The inferences from the study point towards a shift from macro to micro perspectives, forefronting an immersive experience that is concurrently economically accessible and grounded in environmentally sustainable practices. The study connecting the data and the frames of reference proposes the ‘TUBE model’ (Tourism, Urban Mobilities, Blue Humanities, and Economics) to establish how there is a significant spatial remapping of Kochi city, efficiently bridging concerns and providing holistic experiences
