Abstract: A tuneable ultrasonic-assisted electrophoretic deposition system (100) is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a deposition chamber configured to contain a particle suspension, a working electrode and a counter electrode positioned within the deposition chamber, a direct-current power supply configured to generate an electric field between the electrodes, an ultrasonic transducer externally mounted on a wall of the deposition chamber, and an ultrasonic generator operatively connected to the ultrasonic transducer. The ultrasonic transducer is configured to transmit ultrasonic waves through the wall of the deposition chamber into the particle suspension without direct contact with the suspension. The ultrasonic transducer is arranged such that the ultrasonic waves propagate substantially parallel to the electric field generated between the electrodes. Operating parameters of the ultrasonic transducer and the direct-current power supply are independently controllable to provide simultaneous acoustic-field and electric-field generation within the deposition chamber.
