Abstract: The present invention provides a curcumin-loaded poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticle-based topical cream for pain relief and anti-inflammatory application. Curcumin nanoparticles are prepared by solvent evaporation oil-in-water emulsion technique using PVA as stabilizer and incorporated into a Carbopol 940-based oil-in-water cream base. The formulation exhibits a skin- compatible pH of 5.82, viscosity of 15,250 cP, spreadability of 7.15 cm, average particle size of 182.6 nm, and zeta potential of negative 29.8 mV. The cream demonstrates sustained drug release of approximately 82 percent over 24 hours with excellent stability under accelerated conditions. The formulation overcomes the poor solubility and limited skin penetration of free curcumin, providing an effective and safe herbal alternative for managing muscle pain, joint pain, arthritis, and inflammation.
