MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641082534 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Formerly Known As Srm University on July 04, 2026, for Uav-Based Solar Panel Inspection System Using Convgnn For Hotspot Propagation Prediction And Predictive Maintenance.

Inventors include Padmini S; Poovammal E; Pranoy Macker; Sujal Moundekar; and Devraj Goswami.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a UAV-integrated photovoltaic diagnostic system (100) for automated inspection and fault detection in photovoltaic panels (132). The system (100) includes a UAV platform (102), a thermal imaging sensor (104), an RGB imaging sensor (106), an electrical telemetry acquisition module (108), an edge computing module (110), an image preprocessing module (112), and a graph construction module (114). The graph construction module (114) converts photovoltaic panel regions into graph nodes (304) and converts spatial, thermal, and electrical relationships into graph edges (306, 308, 310). A ConvGNN-based processing engine (116) detects photovoltaic faults, while a topology-aware fault localization module (118) localizes fault sources. A hotspot propagation prediction module (126) calculates propagation risk, and an autonomous flight control module (122) dynamically replans UAV inspection paths toward high-risk photovoltaic regions.
