MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611017534 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi on February 17, 2026, for Untethered Artificial Muscle Actuator.
Inventors include Santapuri, Sushma; and Gupta, Devansh.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: Examples of untethered artificial muscle actuators (100) are described herein. In some examples, the actuator (100) includes a tubular chamber (102) formed of an magnetoactive elastomeric material and sealed to define a closed internal volume. A phase-change medium (104) is disposed within the internal volume of the tubular chamber (102), and a magnetically responsive material (106) is suspended within the phase-change medium (104). An energy transfer unit (110) is positioned externally with respect to the tubular chamber (102) and is controllable to transfer energy into the tubular chamber (102) to cause actuation of the tubular chamber. In some examples, the tubular chamber (102) is configured to be magnetically responsive, enabling actuation through energy transfer.
