Abstract: The present invention relates to a urea detection strip for identifying milk adulteration using a DMAB reagent, which is particularly useful in the field of food safety and quality control. The detection strip comprises a p-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMAB) reagent prepared by dissolving 1.6 grams of DMAB in 10 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid and diluting with 100 ml of pure ethanol. This reagent is adsorbed onto a substrate made of Whatman filter paper, which is soaked in a petri plate containing the DMAB reagent and subsequently air-dried at room temperature for 6-8 hours. The detection strip is stored in a plastic bag to maintain its stability and shelf life, with the DMAB reagent remaining stable for up to one month. When exposed to a milk sample with urea, the strip changes from white to yellow, with yellow intensity proportional to urea concentration, detectable from 200 µg/ml.
