Abstract: This invention consists of an adjustable heating and cooling containment device that is essentially a smart, portable bottle that can keep liquids at their desired temperature. The device consists of integrated heating/cooling mechanisms; temperature sensors; insulated containment structures; electronic control systems; and rechargeable power sources to provide thermally efficient operation. The heating mechanism uses resistive thermal elements as a means of generating heat, whereas the cooling function is accomplished by the use of thermoelectric semiconductors. A microcontroller-based control system continuously monitors the temperature of the liquid within the container and then provides automatic regulation of the heating or cooling function, based upon user-set criteria. The device will also include digital displays, safety protection devices and portable charging systems for improved usability and operational dependability. Compared to conventional thermal bottles and electric beverage containers, the device offers superior portability; energy efficiency; precision temperature control; and dual-purpose thermal control. This invention can be used in residential, healthcare, travel, office, educational, industrial and outdoor applications where the temperature of the liquid being housed is to be maintained at a specific level.
