Abstract: A submerged UV-C water disinfection system for potable water tanks comprises a UV-C lamp (27) within an inner quartz sleeve (09), coaxially surrounded by an outer quartz sleeve (10) defining an annular gap of about 3 mm to about 11 mm. A submersible pump (26) below a UV lamp housing (23) draws stagnant water through a bottom cover (13) and an orifice ring (20) into the annular gap for irradiation before discharge through a discharge nozzle (1) on a top cover (2). Repeated pump- assisted recirculation achieves multi-pass irradiation of the entire tank volume, each pass delivering a UV-C dose of about 40 mJ/cm² to about 135 mJ/cm², overcoming the limited penetration depth of UV-C radiation in stagnant water. Sealed electrical construction, potting compound encapsulation, and dry-run protection via level electrodes (36) enable safe, continuous submerged operation, while flexible mounting arrangements support vertical or horizontal, floor-mounted or suspended installation.
