Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable-swirl vortex (104) oil (101) injection system for oil-injected rotary screw compressors. The system comprises a cartridge or insert assembly configured for installation within an oil (101) injection port and includes a housing defining a swirl chamber with tangential entry passages or helical vanes to impart angular momentum to lubricating oil. A movable internal flow-shaping element, such as a pintle or sleeve, is disposed within the swirl chamber and is configured to vary internal flow geometry to dynamically adjust swirl intensity. This enables modulation of spray (106) parameters including spray (106) cone angle and droplet size. The movable element operates in either a passive mode actuated by pressure differential or an active mode controlled by an actuator based on sensor inputs. The system improves cooling, sealing, and lubrication performance while reducing oil carryover and enhancing compressor efficiency, and is adaptable for retrofit installation in existing systems.
