Abstract: The invention titled VatteluttuX: M-Based Ancient Tamil Inscription Recognition and Modern Transliteration System presents a web-based solution for digitizing and interpreting ancient Tamil scripts. The system is developed using Reactjs for the frontend, Fast API for the backend, and MySQL as the relational database. It employs a deep learning-based approach to automatically recognize Vaneluttu characters from images of stone inscriptions and convert them into readable Modem Tamil text. The processing pipeline consists of four stages: image preprocessing, character segmentation using Connected Component Analysis, classification through a Res Net- inspired Convolution Neural Network trained on 247 character classes, and Unicode mapping for text generation. Users can upload inscription images via an intuitive interface and obtain results within seconds. By integrating image processing and artificial intelligence techniques, the system enhances accessibility to ancient texts and supports the preservation, study, and digital archiving of Tamil cultural heritage for future generations.
