MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411097009 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 09, 2024, for Vehicle, System, And Methods For Updating Dynamic Map Data Of Lane Event Changes.

Inventors include Bharath Bhat; Trishna Patil; Dyuthi Varier; and Shubham Mangal Kulkarni.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system (102) and a method (300B) for updating dynamic map data of lane event changes. The system (102) receives virtual lane events and trajectory data from ego vehicles (103), which are determined based on movement of neighboring vehicles (104) and detection of temporary lane markings (107) on a road using sensors (220). The system (102) clusters the events, determines confidence scores, and extracts differentiation points from trajectories. Updated offsets and a connectivity matrix representing lane topology are generated based on the clustered events and trajectory data. The updated dynamic map data, along with confidence scores, is then transmitted to the ego vehicles (103), which the ego vehicles (103) use for navigation, thereby allowing changes or creation of dynamic lane events to be updated in the dynamic map data.
