Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a system for vehicle collision detection and emergency notification. The system comprises a vehicle-mountable housing carrying a sensor assembly, a location module, a communication module, and a processing unit. The sensor assembly comprises an acceleration sensor and an orientation sensor for generating sensor data representing vehicle acceleration and orientation. The processing unit receives the sensor data, determines an impact value, compares the impact value with a threshold, and identifies a potential collision event when the impact value satisfies the threshold. The processing unit validates the potential collision event during a validation interval of 100 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds and confirms a collision event when the impact value remains consistent with the threshold during the validation interval. After confirmation, the processing unit obtains location coordinates from the location module and causes the communication module to transmit an emergency alert comprising the location coordinates to at least one recipient device.
