Abstract: ABSTRACT: Vehicle-Mounted Rider's Ear-Based Ignition Lock System to Enforce Helmet Compliance This invention describes a non-intrusive, vehicle-mounted helmet compliance enforcement system for two-wheeled motor vehicles. The system employs an image acquisition unit to capture side-profile images of a rider’s head during ignition attempts. A processing and control unit performs real-time image analysis to detect the visibility of the rider’s ear region, which serves as a biometric indicator of helmet usage. Based on the detection result, an ignition control interface either enables or inhibits the vehicle’s ignition. The invention operates autonomously, requires no helmet modifications or user intervention, and ensures tamper-resistance by being fully integrated within the vehicle. It further includes visual and auditory alert subsystems to notify the rider of non-compliance. Designed for universal compatibility across two-wheeler types, the system enhances road safety by enforcing helmet use prior to ignition activation. The solution is adaptable for both OEM integration and retrofit applications.
