MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411098439 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 12, 2024, for Vehicle-To-Vehicle Direct Current (dc) Charging System.
Inventors include Aditya Balure; and Sachin Singhal.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a vehicle charging system (100) facilitating DC vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging. The system (100) includes a charging inlet (104), a bypass circuit (106), and a battery (102). The bypass circuit (106) with switches (110) and busbars (112), controls DC current flow between the charging inlet (104) and battery (102) during V2V charging. The bypass circuit (106) connects parallel to an on-board charger (OBC) (108) for AC charging. V2V DC charging occurs by linking vehicles (120, 150) via charging inlets (104, 134) through an AC adapter cable (122). The charging inlet (104) is a Type-2 AC connector with a 3-phase AC cable (122), and the 400V battery (102) enables up to 25.6kW power transfer during V2V DC charging, enhancing efficiency and capability.
