MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641076802 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 21, 2026, for Vision-Augmented Multi-Elevator Dispatch System With Predictive Ai Control.
Inventors include Jayakumar K; Ponharish Kumar. J; and Danush Palani.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: A vision-augmented multi-elevator dispatch system (100) comprising a floor-side vision system (102), a cabin vision system (103), a smartphone proximity system (104), an accessibility detection system (105), an emergency detection system (106), an elevator control system (109), and a central artificial intelligence controller (108). The floor-side vision system (102) generates crowd-density and pedestrian movement information, while the cabin vision system (103) generates occupancy information. The smartphone proximity system (104) generates occupant arrival information, the accessibility detection system (105) identifies mobility-assistive devices, and the emergency detection system (106) detects emergency postural conditions. The central artificial intelligence controller (108) generates a dispatch priority function using crowd density, urgency, occupancy, proximity, accessibility, and emergency information and controls assignment, reservation, bypass, repositioning, and override operations of elevator cars. The system further includes predictive pre-positioning and federated learning mechanisms for adaptive dispatch control while restricting transmission of occupant- specific operational data.
