MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631097119 A) filed by Anirban Acharya on August 11, 2026, for Vyomashta: Autonomous Reusable Spider Robot For Planetary Exploration With Biosignature Detection & Lander Return Capability..
Inventor includes Anirban Acharya.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an autonomous planetary exploration system, designated VYOMASHTA, configured for scientific exploration of extraterrestrial surfaces. The system includes a structural chassis, an articulated eight-legged locomotion system, an embedded electronic control architecture, a power management system, a robotic manipulator, a scientific sensor system, a biosignature detection subsystem, a sample collection and scientific analysis subsystem, a radio frequency communication subsystem, and an onboard artificial intelligence-based autonomous navigation system. The onboard computing system integrates sensor information to perform terrain perception, obstacle detection, path planning, adaptive locomotion, scientific investigation, communication management, subsystem health monitoring, and mission execution. The robotic manipulator acquires planetary samples for in-situ scientific analysis, while the communication subsystem exchanges telemetry, scientific observations, and operational commands with an external communication infrastructure. The system further includes an autonomous return capability configured to navigate to a predetermined operational location upon completion of exploration or occurrence of predetermined mission conditions, enabling repeated exploration missions.
