Abstract: Abstract The present invention relates to a sustainable brick composition and an associated method of manufacture that utilises carbonized Prosopis juliflora (commonly known as Seemai Karuvelam), an invasive woody biomass species widely prevalent in semi-arid regions of Tamil Nadu, India. The invention discloses three distinct brick formulations, namely a cement-stabilised brick, a concrete masonry block, and a fired clay brick, each incorporating the carbonized Prosopis juliflora as a partial replacement for conventional binder. The invention further discloses a controlled carbonization process for converting harvested Prosopis juliflora biomass into a fine additive, thereby converting an ecologically invasive and economically burdensome species into a value-added construction raw material. The resulting bricks are designed to provide acceptable mechanical and physical properties suitable for construction applications, while reducing embodied carbon, cement consumption, and clay extraction. The invention accordingly provides an environmentally beneficial solution that simultaneously addresses invasive species management and sustainable construction material demand.
