Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable, non-invasive, neck-mounted sensor device designed to detect mouth breathing in individuals. Mouth breathing is associated with adverse effects on oral health, craniofacial growth patterns, facial morphology, and dental alignment, and is often linked to underlying airway pathologies or persistent behavioral habits. Existing treatment approaches such as surgical correction or habit-breaking therapy lack continuous real-time monitoring and feedback. The invention comprises a neckband-style wearable device incorporating multiple physiological sensors, including electromyography (EMG) sensors, motion and airflow-related sensors, and an embedded microcontroller with wireless communication capability. The device continuously monitors jaw muscle activity, mandibular posture, and breathing-related movements to identify patterns consistent with mouth breathing. Upon detection, the system provides immediate feedback through haptic alerts and records data for long-term monitoring via a connected digital interface. This invention offers an objective, continuous, and user- friendly solution for detection, monitoring, and behavioral modification of mouth breathing.
