Abstract: There are issues in factories such as gas leakage and fires. Such occurrences have the ability to destroy machinery and harm the workers. Traditional security systems used to protect the workers require someone to continuously monitor and apply different approaches in dealing with the emergencies occurring. As such, the response to any occurrence would be delayed.To improve on this situation, we designed a safety robot. It makes use of technology and the Internet to constantly monitor for gas leakage and fires in the factories. The robot is equipped with four sensors, which check for gas, smoke, fire and heat. All the sensors mentioned above are connected to the ESP32 board. ESP32 board monitors the air in the factory once every second. The robot also has ESP32-CAM camera to check the surrounding environment and identify if there are workers in areas which may pose threats to their safety. In case the smart safety robot senses any form of danger such as the presence of gas leaks, smoke, fire, or excessive heat, it takes action almost immediately. In doing so, it sounds a buzzer to alert people, switches on an exhaust fan to expel toxic fumes and sends an alert message to the people's devices through Wi-Fi and ZigBee networks. This way, this innovative system greatly improves the level of safety in the factories. It detects problems earlier, takes measures to solve them automatically and allows people to remotely monitor the situation. The smart safety robot is very effective in protecting people from dangers.
