Abstract: The present invention discloses a spray-based topical formulation designated as C-BioCare- DFU spray developed for diabetic wound healing application. The formulation comprises an aqueous extract of Gracilaria corticatci incorporated into a biopolymeric matrix formed by chitosan and alginate, along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing agents. The ionic interaction between chitosan and alginate results in formation of a structured polymeric network that facilitates sustained release of marine-derived bioactive constituents. The developed formulation demonstrates antioxidant activity, antimicrobial efficacy against wound-associated microorganisms, and cytocompatibility in skin cell models under in vitro conditions. The spray delivery system ensures uniform wound surface coverage and maintenance of a moist microenvironment. The invention provides a stable and scalable therapeutic platform suitable for diabetic wound care.
