Abstract: A zoned storage device may handle out-of-order write commands from a host, including a host operating in a multi-circular queue mode. The storage device may store pending-write information representing a write command without performing a corresponding write operation when the starting address indicated by the write command does not match a next-write pointer. The storage device may perform a write operation when the starting address indicated by the write command matches the next-write pointer or when the starting address indicated by pending-write information matches the next-write pointer. The storage device may increment the next- write pointer when the starting address indicated by the write command matches the next-write pointer or when the starting address indicated by pending-write information matches the next-write pointer. The zoned storage device may nullify pending-write information when the starting address indicated by the pending-write information matches the next-write pointer.
