India, Aug. 5 -- The Government of India has issued a release:
The "Sahakar Se Samriddhi" initiative seeks to promote the systematic, inclusive and holistic development of the cooperative sector and strengthen its contribution to economic growth, rural development and livelihood generation. Its principal objectives include expanding cooperative coverage to uncovered Panchayats and villages; increasing the income of members through diversification, value addition and improved market access; promoting transparent and technology-enabled governance; ensuring greater participation of women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other weaker sections; and enabling cooperative societies to become financially viable, professionally managed and self-reliant institutions.
To achieve these objectives, the Government has undertaken more than 150 initiatives, the details of which are attached as Annexure-A.
The schemes and initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation are uniformly applicable to all States/UTs. Further, special provisions and targeted measures have been incorporated under various ongoing initiatives to address the geographical and logistical constraints of hilly, tribal and remote areas of areas across the country including Himachal Pradesh. These initiatives have contributed to expansion of cooperative coverage, digitization of PACS, strengthening of dairy and fishery cooperatives, improved access to institutional credit, etc. The details of the progress made in the State of Himachal Pradesh under such initiatives of Ministry of Cooperation are attached as Annexure-B.
