C-DOT has been conferred IEEE SA Corporate Award 2025 for "pioneering contributions in advancing IEEE standards in wireless broadband, rural 5G, telecom education, and for building globally recognized frameworks for standards-based innovation from India through leadership and advocacy." So far only four member organizations across the globe have received the Corporate Award earlier, since inception of IEEE. C-DOT has become the fifth recipient of this award globally and the First organisation from India.
Additionally, IEEE SA Standards Medallion 2025 is awarded to Mr. Sandeep Kumar Agrawal who is working as Scientist in C-DOT. The IEEE SA Standards Medallion Award goes to individuals for major contributions to developing IEEE standards and recognizing leadership in new tech standardization. Mr Sandeep Agarwal received this award for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the development of rural broadband standards and solutions.
IEEE SA corporate award was received by Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT at the IEEE SA award ceremony held in New Jersey. On the momentous occasion he said "it is a proud moment that embodies the collective passion, dedication, and spirit of the entire C-DOT family. This prestigious award acknowledges pioneering contributions of our scientists to wireless broadband, rural 5G, telecom education, and our continued efforts in building globally recognized, standards-based innovation frameworks from India". He added "another feather on the cap is C-DOT's Scientist Mr. Sandeep Kumar Agarwal's proud and well-earned achievement as IEEE SA Standards Medallion. This achievement reflects not just individual excellence but the entire organisation's collective effort and continued commitment to building standards-based innovations that empower rural communities and strengthen India's digital foundation". Being recognised by such a respected world body reinforces C-DOT's commitment to advancing open, future-ready standards that empower communities and strengthen digital ecosystems. C-DOT continues its dedicated effort in placing India on the global map and building an "Aatmanirbhar Bharat", as envisioned by the Hon'ble Prime Minister. The awards underscores C-DOT's strong commitment and consistent focus on technology excellence. In his award acceptance speech, he also thanked Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India for their continued support to Telecom Research, Development and Standardisation activities.

C-DOT is a research and development centre of Government of India for telecommunication technologies. C-DOT has been instrumental in developing indigenous technologies supporting government initiatives like Digital India and Make in India. It is currently working on futuristic technologies like 5G, 6G, Quantum and Cybersecurity. C-DOT scientists have contributed to the development of multiple standards at IEEE including P2061-2025 and P2872 standards. They are also contributing towards pre- standardization activity in the form of "6G Rural Connectivity & Intelligent Village" Industry connection program. C-DOT scientists have also developed educational course in partnership with IEEE on 5G technology to help the community learn the technology leading to capacity building.
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), which began in 1884, is the world's largest technical professional organization with global network of 4,86,000 engineers and technologists and is dedicated to advancing technology for humanity. IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) is an operating unit within IEEE that develops global standards in a broad range of industries including telecom, information and communication technologies. IEEE SA selects a handful of organisations and individuals every year for their prestigious IEEE SA Awards.
