JABALPUR, India, May 1 -- Madhya Pradesh High Court issued the following judgment/order on March 31:

By this petition, petitioner seeks quashing of letter dated 21.08.2025, whereby the appointment of petitioner as an Oath Commissioner has not been renewed on the ground that petitioner did not apply within time for a renewal and the application was delayed by 64 days.

Learned counsel for petitioner submits that petitioner was suffering from Jaundice and because of the said illness, could not apply for extension within the stipulated period.

By order dated 23.02.2026, this Court had raised the query as to whether any person had been appointed in place of the petitioner till date or not.

Learned counsel appearing for the respondent/High Court submits that as per his instructions, no other person has been appointed as Oath Commissioner in place of the petitioner.

Keeping in view the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case as also the medical certificates produced by the petitioner about his health, we condone the delay of 64 days in applying for the extension of the licence to practice as an Oath Commissioner and direct the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner, in accordance with law, for extension/renewal to practice as the Oath Commissioner.

The decision be taken within a period of 10 days from today.

Petition is allowed in the above terms.
