JABALPUR, India, April 26 -- Madhya Pradesh High Court issued the following judgment/order on March 26:

Subject petition impugns the action of the respondents, whereby the liquor shop has been permitted to be open and operated in close vicinity of education institutions and religious structure.

Since, the period of the licence is expiring on 31.3.2026 and a new licence policy has already been notified by the State which mandates that the directions of the Supreme Court in State of Tamil Nadu vs. K. Balu, (2017) 2 SCC 281, shall be complied with.

Learned counsel for the petitioner seeks leave to withdraw the petition reserving the right of the petitioner to raise the same grievance in case the directions of the Supreme Court are not complied with at the time permitting the licensee to open a liquor shop under new excise policy.

in view of the above, petition is dismissed as withdrawn.

Respondents shall ensure that the direction of the Supreme Court in K. Balu (supra) are duly complied with while permitting to operate the liquor shops.
