Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs , Food and Public Distribution Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya visited the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy in New Delhi on the occasion of National Handloom Day .
During the meeting, the Minister of State interacted with weavers and artisans involved in the handloom sector and learned about their experiences , traditional arts, and skills. He commended and encouraged the weavers and artisans for their vital contribution in keeping the Indian handloom tradition alive.
' Vocal for Local' is providing new opportunities to weavers
Referring to the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for " Vocal for Local", the Hon'ble Minister said that initiatives like " Vocal for Local" are helping weavers in getting better access to local markets , new income opportunities and preserving traditional skills.
State Minister appreciates the contribution of weavers and artisans
The Honourable Minister of State said , " The art of women weavers is the strength of our rich heritage and the inspiration for a self-reliant India." He said that Indian handlooms and handicrafts further strengthen our rich culture , creativity and identity of a self-reliant India.
Appreciating the traditional skills and contribution of weavers and artisans in the handloom sector, the Minister said , " Weavers and artisans like you are strong pillars of self-reliant India."
