During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha today, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the West Bengal government is not implementing the Central Government schemes properly.
He said that this is depriving the state's poor farmers of important central government schemes. Shivraj Singh Chouhan also noted that record food grain production is occurring across the country.

Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country's total food grain production has increased to a record level of approximately 357 million tonnes , strengthening both India's food security and farmers' income. He added that India has surpassed China in rice production, with a production of over 150 million tonnes , while record production has also been recorded in crops like wheat , mustard , soybean , and groundnut. According to Shri Chouhan , previously India had to rely on wheat imported under PL- 480 , but today the situation is such that the country's warehouses are overflowing with wheat and rice, and the government is worried about " where to store it ," while the world is praising India's farmers and policies.
Natural farming , pulses , fruits and vegetables : Centre's initiative , opposition's silence
Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh said that the Central Government has significantly increased the production of pulses along with fruits and vegetables to increase the income of farmers and ensure nutritional security, thereby reducing the total fertilizer use and cost and increasing the availability of nutritious food. He informed that the production of pulses has increased from about 19 million tonnes to around 25-26 million tonnes and horticulture production has also reached more than 369 million tonnes , which has become a major source of additional income for the farmers.
Giving information about promoting chemical-free farming in vast areas along the banks of rivers like Ganga under the Natural Farming Mission , making lakhs of farmers aware and arranging incentives per acre, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that if natural farming is done in the right way, production does not decrease , in many cases it increases , but the indifference of states like West Bengal is a matter of concern for the country.
Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan delivered a clear message, stating that poor farmers in West Bengal are deprived of many important central government schemes . He stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's goal is to make India the world's " food basket " and contribute to global food security in the spirit of " Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam . "
Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that previous governments never paid serious attention to the serious problems arising from the indiscriminate and unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides , which on the one hand continuously deteriorated the fertility and quality of the soil , and on the other hand increased various diseases among humans. He alleged that previous Congress-led governments neither cared about the health of the soil nor took any concrete initiative towards providing pure and nutritious food to farmers and consumers. Shri Chouhan said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi understood this challenge in time and gave a clear message that this earth should remain safe and fertile not only for our generation but also for the generations to come.

श्री शिवराज सिंह ने प्राकृतिक खेती मिशन और जैविक खेती मिशन का ज़िक्र करते हुए कहा कि इन योजनाओं के जरिए सरकार मिट्टी में ऑर्गेनिक कार्बन बढ़ाने, भूमि को रसायनमुक्त बनाने और किसानों की लागत घटाकर उनकी आय बढ़ाने पर फोकस कर रही है। उन्होंने बताया कि गंगा जैसी नदियों के दोनों किनारों पर 5 किलोमीटर तक के क्षेत्रों को प्राथमिकता देते हुए, बड़े पैमाने पर प्राकृतिक खेती को बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है ताकि पानी, जमीन और इंसान- तीनों का स्वास्थ्य सुरक्षित रह सके। उन्होंने कहा कि देशभर में 1 करोड़ से ज्यादा किसानों को प्राकृतिक खेती के लिए संवेदनशील और प्रशिक्षित किया गया है और लाखों हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र में क्लस्टर बनाकर रासायनिक उर्वरक व कीटनाशक मुक्त खेती शुरू हो चुकी है।
किसान को प्रोत्साहन, स्थानीय संसाधनों से खेती का मॉडल
केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री श्री चौहान ने कहा कि प्राकृतिक खेती में किसानों को प्रति एकड़ वित्तीय सहायता दी जा रही है ताकि वे रासायनिक खाद और महंगे कीटनाशकों की जगह स्थानीय स्तर पर उपलब्ध संसाधनों पर आधारित पारंपरिक भारतीय पद्धतियां अपनाएं। उन्होंने समझाया कि इस मॉडल में खेत और गांव के आसपास मिलने वाली वनस्पतियों, देसी गाय के गोबर और गोमूत्र से तैयार घनजीवामृत, बीजामृत और नीमास्त्र जैसी देसी तकनीकों का उपयोग किया जाता है। साथ ही इंटरक्रॉपिंग के जरिए एक ही खेत में अलग‑अलग फसलें ली जाती हैं। श्री चौहान ने दावा किया कि सही तरीके से प्राकृतिक खेती अपनाने पर उत्पादन घटने की आशंका निराधार है, बल्कि देश के कई हिस्सों के प्रयोगों में यह साबित हुआ है कि किसानों की पैदावार पहले से ज्यादा हुई है और उत्पाद की गुणवत्ता भी बेहतर मिली है।
"हरित क्रांति से भी तेज़ गति से आगे बढ़ रहा है भारत"
श्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने बताया कि आज भारत का खाद्यान्न उत्पादन हरित क्रांति के शुरुआती दौर की तुलना में कई गुना अधिक हो चुका है और अब वृद्धि की रफ्तार भी पहले से तेज है। उन्होंने कहा कि 2014-15 के मुकाबले खाद्यान्न उत्पादन में लगभग 40-42 प्रतिशत तक की वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है, दलहन, तिलहन, बागवानी और दुग्ध उत्पादन जैसे क्षेत्रों में भी लगातार नए कीर्तिमान बन रहे हैं, जिसका सीधा फायदा किसानों की आय और देश की खाद्य सुरक्षा - दोनों को मिल रहा है। मंत्री श्री शिवराज सिंह ने यह भी रेखांकित किया कि "सेल्फ‑रिलायंस इन पल्सेज मिशन" और बागवानी के लिए की गई पहलों ने दालों और फल‑सब्जियों के उत्पादन को नए स्तर पर पहुँचाया है, जिससे पोषण सुरक्षा को मजबूत आधार मिला है।
"भारत को दुनिया का फूड बास्केट बनाकर रहेंगे"
Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has a clear vision that India should not only be limited to food security of its citizens but should also become the " Food Basket of the World " fulfilling the needs of the world with a spirit of Vishwa Bandhu .
