Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI)
Under the World's Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector, 1,015 PACS across the country have been identified for construction of godowns and construction work has been completed in 313 PACS creating a total capacity of 1.80 LMT. The State-wise details of the godowns constructed are enclosed at Annexure-I.
A total of 36 PACS have been identified by the State of Bihar. Out of these, a total of 27 PACS, including 4 from the West Champaran district, have applied for assistance under the Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) scheme. Construction work has commenced at the 4 PACS in West Champaran district.
The Plan entails creation of various agri infrastructure including godowns, custom hiring centers, processing units, Fair Price Shops, etc. at PACS/ other cooperative societies level through convergence of various existing schemes of the Government of India (GoI), such as, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure Scheme (AMI), Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME), etc. The modifications made in the guidelines is enclosed at Annexure-II.
This plan has been integrated with the storage requirement of the Food Corporation of India (FCI). FCI has mapped a storage requirement of approximately 26.03 LMT across 216 potential locations in 18 States/Union Territories. The Food Corporation of India has provided uniform hiring assurance for 9 years to the warehouses with a capacity of 2,500 metric tonnes or more (1,671 metric tonnes and above for North-Eastern and hilly regions)
